    Growing Together Career Scholars Program

Cooperative education combines classroom academics with real-world experience for college credit. At its core, the Growing Together Career Scholars Program supports workforce and economic development in Northeast Nebraska. You’ll spend three years on campus studying in an accelerated program in a cohort class, developing skills and meeting potential employers in your field of study. During your senior year, you'll transition to co-op employment and live in the downtown Norfolk area with your peers. Upon graduation, the goal is for you to be hired into full-time positions in Northeast Nebraska.

Eligible fields of study include programs in business administration, education, industrial technology, information technology, and mass communication. Scholarships range from $2,000 to $10,000 per year to cover tuition, fees, room, and board.

High school seniors are invited to apply for the Growing Together program. To learn more and apply, visit www.wsc.edu/growtogether.

So the Growing Together Career Scholars Program is really all about meeting that need of Northeast Nebraska.

The Growing Together Career Scholars Program is really a unique cooperative education, cohort based model program. Students that are coming in as freshmen, they apply in their senior year in high school. Spend the first three years on campus studying an accelerated curriculum program in a [INAUDIBLE] class, and then they spend their final year performing cooperative education in Norfolk with an employer.

Sometimes it's hard for people to find the job. And this scholarship kind of gives us the job and gives us work experience.

That a year of experience just shoots you light years ahead.

Dr. Keeler did a great job of covering every point that you really need in life as you get a job.

    Leadership, critical thinking--

--the one that really stood out to me was the oral and written communication.

He brought an employer from Norfolk and you really got to grow and know them--

Our fourth year we get the opportunity to live in Norfolk--

Norfolk as a community, is just evolving--

That has a little small town feel, but also has the big town stuff available to you.

I can come back to where I'm from and work here, and come back to Norfolk and work that for a year, and just hopefully, stay in Northeast Nebraska and keep growing and keep it alive.
