The thing that I like most about studying music at Wayne State is just the family environment here. I know all of my professors, all of the fellow music majors, and it's just a really inclusive place that I can call my second home. Well, what I really liked most about my program is the sheer amount of opportunities that I have to really not only learn from my program, but pursue different avenues with what I want to do as well. I came in as a music education major. And I thought that's what I really wanted to do. But I luckily had a bunch of supportive faculty members, who showed me that music Ed is not the only music career to pursue. And I was sitting in a class with an adjunct faculty member, who runs his own theater in Wakefield, and we were just discussing the different things that he's done with his life. And I've always found theater to be really interesting. And so after taking that class, I knew that I wanted to pursue theater management. Well, when I think about my future career, I think of Humanities and aiding me with being successful in those careers. By again, giving me those opportunities to find my way through writing and find my way through teaching and finding the ways that I can excel at both put them together and be the best English teacher that I can be. Looking towards plans after graduation, there are a couple of different avenues that I have been thinking about. Through Wayne, I have been able to find a couple of different ways to go through publishing. So maybe even go through a full-time being an author, or even trying to find a graduate assistant position to teach English and literature at the collegiate level. That's been a longtime dream of mine as well. What I'm most looking forward to with the newly renovated facility that we're getting here-- is the new practice rooms and the new sound facilities. I know a lot of my professors really like to record our progress in the classroom. We are getting some cool recording technology in the new building and we're really excited about that.
