I definitely chose Wayne State because it reminded me of the community environment that I experienced for my own hometown in high school. My dorm that I've lived in this year as well as last year as Pile Hall. It sits really close to the library where I work, here at the student center to eat, the different academic buildings that I go to have class in. I mentioned that campus is kind of a tight knit community, it's definitely the same thing with classes as well. Especially since you have some of the same classmates from freshman year all the way up to senior year. It makes it easy to participate in group projects. And that's only aided by how close to professors follow their students as well. They'll help you through classes. They'll be personalized with you on a one on one basis. Whenever I'm leaving class, I always leave with the sense that I'm always learning something new and a different kind of capacity. The food options here at Wayne State, I think are not only really good, but they have a diverse set of options for you to choose from as well. Not only do we have the upper cafeteria, which hosts a variety of options that change daily, but even downstairs for more of a personalized cafeteria food court kind of idea.
Wayne actually hosts a variety of different job opportunities on campus. The first one that I have is I worked for the Holland Academic Success Center as a tutor for the writing Help Desk, which has been an awesome experience and opportunity for me to learn and grow as an English Education major. Getting the chance to tutor my own peers in college will really help me someday in the workplace. I get to work with students one on one, and different papers, speeches, projects to help them through college. I also work for the admissions department as a navigator tour guide.
Wayne State College has some awesome recreational services that I personally use almost on a daily basis between their weight room or multi purpose rooms and the Rec Center as a whole with the basketball courts. I would say it's definitely easy to make friends here at Wayne because of how again close knit the community is. Not only is it easy to find that support group that's going to help motivate you to be successful, but the different groups and organizations and honors and awards that you can win through every school of study through every subject. It's very vast-- It's very easy for you to find a goal to work towards.
